Hacksaw Gaming is back with its sixteenth entry in the “Le” series, and this time, Smokey the Raccoon has put on a Dracula cape and fangs.
Releasing on October 1, 2026, Le Vampire keeps the familiar 6×5 grid we’ve seen in all the previous games. You win by landing clusters, five or more matching symbols touching each other. The game has a medium volatility rating (3 out of 5), a top prize of 15,000x your bet, and a solid Return to Player (RTP) of around 96.36% (though casinos can choose lower versions, so always check).
But here is the most important thing to know before you play: the regular symbols barely pay anything. This entire game revolves around waiting for one specific symbol to show up.
The Golden Squares (And Why You Need a Rainbow)
Every time you get a winning cluster, two things happen. First, the winning symbols disappear, letting new ones drop down to potentially create a chain reaction. Second, the squares behind those winning symbols turn gold.
Here is the catch: those gold squares do absolutely nothing on their own. They are hiding prizes, but they will only reveal them if a Rainbow symbol lands on the board. If you don’t get a Rainbow, you just get the tiny payout from your cluster win, and the board wipes clean for the next spin.

The base game is essentially a holding pattern. You spend one spin building up gold squares, hoping a Rainbow drops on the exact same spin. Because the game purposely keeps Rainbows rare, you are mostly just waiting to trigger the bonus rounds.
What Happens When the Rainbow Actually Hits?
When a Rainbow finally lands, all your lit-up gold squares flip over at once. They will reveal one of three things:
- Coins: Instant cash prizes based on your bet. They range from cheap Bronze coins (0.2x to 4x) all the way up to Diamond coins (100x to 500x).
- Clovers: These are multipliers. Instead of adding cash, they multiply the coins around them (or the whole board) by up to 20x. This is where the real money is made.
- Pots/Bags of Gold: These act like vacuums. They suck up all the prizes on the board, freeing up those squares for new symbols to drop in, allowing the whole process to happen again.

Hitting the game’s 15,000x max win requires a massive chain reaction of coins, multipliers, and pots. However, keep your expectations in check. In our test, we got a nearly full board with a Rainbow, and because most of the coins were cheap Bronze ones, a €2 bet paid out €68.40. A full board doesn’t always mean a massive payout.
The Three Bonus Rounds
If you land 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols, you unlock one of three bonus rounds. They all give you 10 free spins, but they get progressively better:
- Coffin Break (3 Scatters): Gold squares no longer wipe away between spins. They build up until a Rainbow finally lands to cash them in.
- Love at First Bite (4 Scatters): Gold squares stay lit forever. Even after a Rainbow cashes them in, they stay active for the next Rainbow to use again.
- Do Your Fang (5 Scatters): The ultimate bonus. Squares stay lit forever, you are guaranteed a Rainbow on every single spin, and all the cheapest coins are removed from the game.

During the bonuses, winning with high-paying symbols upgrades them into “Epic” blood-splattered versions that pay more and give you extra free spins.

A quick reality check on the bonuses: We bought the basic Coffin Break bonus for €120 (on a €2 bet). We ended up with 14 spins and won €74.40. But here is the kicker: 13 of those spins paid out a combined €6. The other €68 came from the one single spin where a Rainbow showed up. The free spins are just a tool to build up squares; if the Rainbow doesn’t arrive, you don’t get paid.
Be Careful With the Buy Menu
If you live in a region where you can buy bonuses, Le Vampire has five options. But be careful, because they are very different:
- Two of them are standard, one-time bonus buys (Coffin Break for 60x your bet, and Love at First Bite for 250x).
- The other three are “FeatureSpins.” This means you are paying a massive surcharge per spin in the base game for better odds or guaranteed Rainbows.
One of these options costs 500x your bet per spin to guarantee an Epic Rainbow. On a €2 bet, that’s €1,000 every time you press the spin button. Make sure you know which button you are clicking!

Interestingly, the absolute best bonus in the game, Do Your Fang, cannot be bought at any price. You have to earn it naturally, which is a genuinely cool choice by the developers.
Art and Vibe
Visually, the game is fun and cartoonish, looking more like a kids’ Halloween special than a horror movie. Smokey the Raccoon scowls at you from a colorful, spooky castle. It has that slightly cheap, confident charm that Hacksaw is known for. The symbols themselves (skulls, garlic, pistols) are just window dressing; the paytable is so low that you need massive clusters of 14+ symbols to see any real base-game cash.
The Verdict
If you have played Le Bandit or Le Fisherman, you already know exactly how Le Vampire plays. It’s the sixteenth game from Hacksaw to use this exact same 6×5 grid and “Golden Squares” engine.
It’s a fun, well-designed game, but it is an “all-or-nothing” experience. You will sit through long stretches of 40-cent wins while you slowly light up the board, waiting for that one magic spin to save your session. Mechanically it is the same Le game you already know, but it ships with the highest base RTP the series has had, and the upgrade ladder makes the top bonuses feel genuinely different rather than just longer.
